BREAKING! NASA Releases Images From The Dwarf Planet Ceres!

NASA has released new images of the dwarf planet Ceres, created using data from the Dawn spacecraft. They reveal the varied topography of this intriguing world – while the agency has also sought help from the public to understand some of its more mysterious features.

The images use false colors to highlight different compositions on the surface. Red shows areas that strongly reflect infrared light, blue represents shorter (bluer) wavelengths, and green areas are the brightest (highest albedo) parts of the surface. Without this false-color view, Ceres looks fairly homogenously gray to the naked eye.

EPIC FAIL: NASA Says Making Movies About Mars Will Help Us Get There

Hollywood is hoping for a blockbuster opening weekend of the sci-fi thriller “The Martian.” But the film is drumming up public interest in NASA’s lofty Mars missions, too.

Public support is seen as crucial to the agency as it works to make due on a promise to send humans to the red planet within 20 years. As excitement regarding the potential to travel to, land, and possibly even live on Mars grows, scientists say it could prop up NASA’s missions and help secure ongoing funding.

This week, a number of scientists heralded the film’s factual accuracy, NASA announced a breakthrough discovery regarding flowing water on the red planet, and a rare blood moon on Sunday attracted a significant amount of attention on social media sites.

The momentum has set the film up for a solid opening weekend, with Fandango reporting that pre-sales for “The Martian” are exceeding those of the 2013 sci-fi thriller “Gravity.” Box office tracking company estimates the film will rake in $56 million this weekend.

Do You Believe This Contraption of Tinfoil and Bailing Wire Actually Landed on the Moon? REALLY?

NASA’s Mars Fakery Promotes New Movie – The Martian

In scenes when Damon makes contact with the crew, he types and reads messages back in real time, when there would likely be a delay of many minutes to get messages to Mars and back.

Nor does the movie allude to the dangers of radiation in space, and the risk of cancer that would likely stalk the Mars pioneers if they made it back to Earth.

Not to mention that NASA is still working on the machinery to rocket humans to Mars. The US space agency has begun testing the Orion deep space capsule, but its first manned flight test may not be until 2023.

“I think the reality is that even if all those technologies were ready — if the Orion was magically ready tomorrow — we would be a no-go for launch because the human body is not yet ready for us to go to Mars,” said Camille Alleyne of the International Space Station program science office.

But space policy expert John Logsdon said he expects the story will inspire young people to keep working on ways to get there.

“I think the bottom line of both the book and the movie is yes, it is worth doing,” he said.

Flat Earth – What Did Rush Know?

My eyes have just been opened and they’re open very wide
Images around me don’t identify inside
Just one blur I recognize the one that soothes and feeds
My way of life is easy and as simple are my needs

Living one long sunrise for to me all things are new
I’ve never watched the sky grow pale or strolled through fields of dew
I do not know of dust to dust, I live from breath to breath
I live to climb that mountain to the Fountain of Lamneth

Yet my eyes are drawn toward the mountain in the east
Fascinates and captivates and gives my heart no peace
The mountain holds the sunrise in the prison of the night
Till burstin’ forth from rocky chains the valley floods with light

Crying back to consciousness
The coldness grips my skin
The sky is pitching violently
Drawn by shrieking winds

Sea spray blurs my vision
Waves roll by so fast
Save my ship of freedom
I’m lashed helpless to the mast

Remembering when first I held
The wheel in my own hands
I took the helm so eagerly
And sailed for distant lands

But now the sea’s too heavy
And I just, I just don’t understand
Why must my crew desert me?
When I need, I need a guiding hand

Call out for direction and there’s no one there to steer
Shout out for salvation but there’s no one there to hear
Cry out supplication for the maelstrom is near
Scream out desperation but no one cares to hear

The whiteness of confusion
Is unfolding from my mind
I stare around in wonder
Have I left my life behind?

I catch the scent of ambergris
And turn my head, surprised
My gaze is caught and held and I
Am helpless, mesmerized

Another foggy dawn
The mountain almost gone
Another doubtful fear
The road is not so clear
My soul grows ever weary
And the end is ever near

Draw another goblet from the cask of forty three
Crimson misty memory, hazy glimpse of me
Give me back my wonder I’ve somethin’ more to give
I guess it doesn’t matter, there’s not much more to
Not much more to live

Look, the mist is rising and the sun is peaking through
See the steps grow lighter as I reach their final few
Hear the dancing waters, I must be drawing near
Feel, my heart is pounding with embattled hope and fear

Now, at last I fall before the Fountain of Lamneth
I thought I would be singing but I’m tired out of breath
Many journeys end here but the secrets told the same
Life is just a candle and a dream must give it flame

The key, the end, the answer, stripped of their disguise
Still it’s all confusion and tears spring to my eyes
Though I’ve reached a signpost, it’s really not the end
Like Old Sol behind the mountain, I’ll be comin’ up again

To seek the sacred river Alph
To walk the caves of ice
To break my fast on honeydew
And drink the milk of Paradise…’

I had heard the whispered tales of immortality
The deepest mystery
From an ancient book I took a clue
I scaled the frozen mountain tops of eastern lands unknown
Time and Man alone
Searching for the lost Xanadu

To stand within the Pleasure Dome
Decreed by Kubla Khan
To taste anew the fruits of life
The last immortal man
To find the sacred river Alph
To walk the caves of ice
Oh, I will dine on honeydew
And drink the milk of Paradise

A thousand years have come and gone but time has passed me by
Stars stopped in the sky
Frozen in an everlasting view
Waiting for the world to end, weary of the night
Praying for the light
Prison of the lost

Held within the Pleasure Dome
Decreed by Kubla Khan
To taste my bitter triumph
As a mad immortal man
Nevermore shall I return
Escape these caves of ice
For I have dined on honeydew
And drunk the milk of Paradise

NASA Liars Announce Another Fake Planet

Astronomers have spotted the closest thing yet to the first true ‘Earth twin’ — a small planet orbiting the bright star Kepler 452, at a distance where liquid water could exist.

“It is the first terrestrial planet in the habitable zone around a star very similar to the Sun,” says Douglas Caldwell, an astronomer at the SETI Institute in Mountain View, California.

The alien world is 60% larger than Earth and orbits its star at a distance similar to that between Earth and the Sun. The star itself lies 430 parsecs from Earth, in the constellation Cygnus. It is slightly brighter than the Sun, making its planet a better Earth analogue than planets announced last year and in January, both of which orbited dim, cool stars.

NASA announced the planet, dubbed Kepler-452b, on 23 July, as part of the latest harvest of worlds spotted by its Kepler spacecraft. From 2009 to 2013, Kepler stared at a small patch of sky looking for slight decreases in starlight that signalled a planet moving, or transiting, across the face of a star. The spacecraft has discovered more than 1,000 confirmed planets, including Kepler-452b, and more than 4,660 candidates.

I set a course just east of Lyra
And northwest of Pegasus
Flew into the light of Deneb
Sailed across the Milky Way

On my ship, the ‘Rocinante’
Wheeling through the galaxies,
Headed for the heart of Cygnus
Headlong into mystery

The x-ray is her siren song
My ship cannot resist her long
Nearer to my deadly goal
Until the Black Hole,
Gains control…

Apollo was astonished
Dionysus thought me mad
But they heard my story further
And they wondered and were sad

Looking down from Olympus
On a world of doubt and fear
It’s surface splintered
Into sorry hemispheres

They sat a while in silence
Then they turned at last to me
(We will call you Cygnus)
(The God of balance you shall be)

We can walk our road together
If our goals are all the same
We can run alone and free
If we pursue a different aim

Let the truth of love be lighted
Let the love of truth shine clear sensibility
Armed with sense and liberty
With the heart and mind united
In a single, perfect, sphere

I Can See For Miles And Miles

I know you’ve deceived me, now here’s a surprise
I know that you have ’cause there’s magic in my eyes

I can see for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles
Oh yeah

If you think that I don’t know about the little tricks you’ve played
And never see you when deliberately you put things in my way

Well, here’s a poke at you
You’re gonna choke on it too
You’re gonna lose that smile
Beacuse all the while

I can see for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles
Oh yeah

The Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal are mine to see on clear days
You thought that I would need a crystal ball to see right through the haze

Well, here’s a poke at you
You’re gonna choke on it too
You’re gonna lose that smile
Beacuse all the while

I can see for miles and miles
I can see for miles and miles
I can see for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles

Point Of Know Return

I heard the men saying something
The captains tell they pay you well
And they say they need sailing men to
Show the way and leave today
Was it you that said, “How long, how long?”

They say the sea turns so dark that
You know it’s time, you see the sign
They say the point Demon’s Guard is
An ocean grave, for all the brave
Was it you that said, “How long, how long?
How long to the point of no return?”

Your father, he said he needs you
Your mother, she says she loves you
Your brothers, they echo your words
How far to the point of no return?
(No return)
To the point of no return
Oh oh
How long?
How long?

Today I found a message floating
In the sea from you to me
Wrote that, when you could see it
You cried with fear, the point was near
Was it you that said, “How long, how long?
How long to the point of no return?”

How long?
How long to the point of no return?
(How long?)
No return
(How long?)
How long?
How long?
